D4 2010 - Ambient external air temperature sensor

Hi,looking for a little assistance.

I have had an issue with my external air temp reading on the dashboard being -40 degree or --- or somewhere in the minus figures which obviously has an effect to the heating and the engine fan, ever since my timing belt was changed by Bournemouth Ind. Land Rover. I was told by Oxford Land Rover dealer that i needed to replace the ambient air temp sensor which sits behind the front bumper. I promptly have changed it but still have the same issue, would it be a relay issue or something else i have missed?
