My D3's going in for its big service, help on what to look 4

My 55 plate D3's going in for another service, this time the BIG one at around £700 plus vat Big Cry

Will be booking it into Nick's lot at Frome, as its coming to close to the end of its warranty, can anyone give me a few pointers for them to check ie recent TSB's etc.

Had all discs and pads, tyres changed and optical alignment around 3/4 months ago, picked up on the bulletin regards the knocking noise when going over bumps (which has only just started to manifest itself), also the front n/s window seems alittle challenged when closing it up, got an intermitant squeek in the dash.....

can you think of anything else which we might get them to look at whilst they are there? Bow down

Before u ask, its just coming up to 229k (done around 15k in last 4 months since its previous service) Thumbs Up

At your mileage I don't think anyone here could know Shocked

As for TSB's the dealer will know or of course you could subscribe for a day on GTR and take a peek... Wink but TBH I cannot recall seeing anything thats related to such a high mileage D3... wear and tear is going to be the issue (if there are any) not anything TSB related.

Well I would be looking at getting a new one TBH. Whether it is a D3 or any car you are pretty much pushing it to its limit with that mileage.

Get done what you can on warranty(and that's pushing it) then stand back and expect some big bills.

Not just because it's a D3 but it would be the same with any car.

OK so someone is going to tell me they have a million mile Volvo that has never gone wrong Confused
 Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it

once again, many thanks for your kind words regards the mileage, as if I 'have'nt heard those ones before Laughing

I am not going to waste my energy defending the mileage, its a work horse, plain and simple, it covers its costs by the revenue it generates (at present around 9xtimes its purchase cost/running cost).

I believe in "green motoring" which is why we will run it until it drops rather than pay a significant amount of money on a newer one for the value to drop some 60% in 24 months due to the excessive mileage we drive and the carbon cost of manufacturing a new one..... or is that me just being a tight aCensored !!!!!

Just thought I would pose the question ahead of it going in next thursday to nick and his crew!!

Having a FL2 for the day. "that will be nice!" Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter

Mine is doing this as well. Just really noticed it over the last month or so. I've also had the ball joints done. Any clues as to what the bulletin is?

So, this should be about to have its second timing belt renewal Thumbs Up Mine is just about to have its first.

I know you have not done all the miles yourself, but I am seriously impressed with the cars achievement. I totally agree with your justification for keeping the car until it will go no more, however, you are the pace-setter here, so there is not much we can tell you to look out for.

Well the highways agency were Wink

As I said... not much knowledge in this area and 2MK no outstanding issues that a good dealer would not have sorted.

And if your taking it to Yeovil, then I'm pretty sure you'll get the best service.
