D3 Suspension fault - Normal height only - MOT In a week :\

hi all,

i have my MOT due to be done next week and ive got an error on the dash pop up, Suspension fault, normal height ride only. i have attempted to take a look at all previous posts but havent seen the case where the front is also dropping overnight.

overnight the car drops pretty bad and then when the car is turned on, it goes to normal height and within a few mins, the error shows up.

could someone give me some idea of what might be wrong? i will go under the car and check compressor type and for the dryer lid leaks.

i was hoping i could figure something out today, there's 10% off ebay, if air compressor, ordering a £400 one will save me £40.

any help would be appreciated.

thank you!!

You probably have two faults. Normal height only could be caused by the dryer on the compressor being blocked. The other fault with the car dropping overnight could be caused by the front valve block leaking.

If the car is raising once started on every occasion, then compressor is likely ok and not at fault.
Diagnosing a fault like this without plugging it in to an appropriate tool is speculation, so try and find a local willing soul to help if you can.
Likely causes if it's lowering, are valve blocks, airbags/struts or pipework leaks.
A kitchen spray with soapy liquid in can help locate a leak if you're lucky.
Spray around the areas mentioned and you may get lucky.

Have checked with john who is also an mot inspector, if the warning light is only amber its a pass so if its just normal height only indicated which is amber you have nothing to worry about.

Yes, it seems to raise fine, it does sometimes says vehicle raising slowly on the dash.
I connected it up to the laptop and got this error code, C1A20, which is the usual one most people get. and also C1131 which says intermittent.

i found some leaks, please see picture Sad any ideas anyone on what i need to replace? and potentially any part numbers?

i hope not Neutral seems like a leak, but not sure if this leak would account for both the dropping front and the error on the dash

Iv got my old pump sitting here with a new aluminum back plate on it, its of no use to me its a simple swop over those plastic plates split between the 2 air holes, or just swop out the pump with a euro spares one with life time warranty.

Up to you my old pump is scrap due to the exhaust vavle corroded and the threads stripping out but its got a new back plate on, new air drier medium and new piston seals.

i think id need a new plate right? and a new pipe fitting.

ive seen these two items that i think would fix it,

could someone please inform me if im heading the correct way?

This to fix the leak on the pipe heading into the lid:

hey everyone again,

i have still not got around to fixing this, MOT passed thankfully, but now the car has dropped completely, it does not raise at all, when i try use the switch to raise it, suspension error comes up and if i drive, then it the following message keeps flashing 'normal height ride only'. its almost undriveable, i will be getting under the car on the weekend to see if i can find anything, but anyone got any idea what it could be now?

thanks

a fuse had blown out and the compressor gave up too, replaced both and things are going good. i think there is still a very minor leak, so when i get a chance i will get down and take a look. it seems
the yellow connector it leaking, but it may be the pipe leaking. but as for now, the car is running very nicely and im loving it Very Happy Very Happy
