D3 sounds like an elephant on hills
My d3 auto has recently started to sound like an elephant in low gears up hill or under heavy load.this is after starting to tramline quite badly & poor fuel consumption.can these things be related in any way ? Mpg showing is 18.5 mpg start stop driving.im wondering if I should just get rid or if it’s worth persevering with? Any help I’d be grateful

One may be the exhaust, tram lining is usually tyres or alignment

I had the 4 wheel alignment done before Christmas & didn’t help, has gradually got worse.Elephant noise is only above 2000 revs.hadnt considered the exhaust

Does it only happen on trunk roads , Sorry couldn’t resist
Don’t know if it’s any use, had a similar noise , front left hand side of the engine bay , was a broken jubilee clip on the short turbo intercooler hose , as soon as I got 2-2500 revs it would make a strange noise
Does it stop if u take ur foot off the accelerator pedal
This was the clip in question, alas the guys here have far more knowledge than myself

Cheers for the reply,I’ve just checked the hoses visually & lots of oily looking liquid passenger side front & a little leak at bottom front drivers side so I’ll use these as my first point of cal.cheers gs
