D3 Opened and Contents Stolen Last Night
A warning to others, don't leave anything valuable in your car.
Came out this morning at 7.30 to find boot open and drivers door ajar.
They got away with an empty wallet that was in the centre armrest and an iPod which I'd foolishly left in the centre cup holder.
Luckily no forced entry but I'm pretty sure the car was locked.
Just don't leave anything on display to lure a thief. Car was on the drive in a low crime area.Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

Check that all your doors are actually locking, if a door actuator has failed that door will not lock and you will not know.
p.s. I always leave a old empty wallet for them to pinch, even on holiday! It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.
I carry my old empty wallet about with me as it is the only one I have . . . !A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.

They are incredibly easy to open with zero damage. Handy when you lock your keys inside, but a safe place they are not.
As for an old wallet - is that in view to encourage someone to break-in anyway or out of view so that they can be inside your vehicle and be disappointed?Land Rover - Turning Drivers into Mechanics Since 1948

A house 300 yards from us had a BMW 3 series (2017) opened, and a VW Beetle (63 plate) stolen 2 days ago. Looks like it was a key clone job on the Beemer, possibly stolen keys on the VW as they can’t find the spares.
They have had lots of work done on their house recently, so could be a rogue worker who has passed keys on? Just goes to show, you have to look after the keys always.
Her insurance is not happy that the VW was stolen, and she can’t produce all the keys. It’s not a given that they are going to pay out at this stage, and are saying she was possibly negligent with the keys.

The thing that is bugging me now is did I simply leave my car unlocked or did the thief scan my key code from outside the house and gain access that way?
Should I now keep the car keys in a metal box?Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.

If you're certain you locked your D3, why didn't the alarm sound upon opening a door?
If you have a dodgy door lock alternator, the alarm will still sound when the thief opens the door PROVIDING you've locked the car.Mods:

I have just walked past a stationary taxi and it had a 150mm approx gash above the drivers door lock, looks like it had been hit with an axe!
No Robbie it’s so that he/she will make a quick getaway thinking they have got what he came for only to be disappointed when they open it and finds it’s stuffed with old newspaper not like the who have just nicked the local cash machine from out of the P.O. wall. the only one left in the town as well, now we’ve got a five mile trip into town when we need some cash It can when others can't,

I know when I've found my car unlocked on a morning, going back over the previous evening I soon remember a distraction at the point I ought to have been hitting the lock button.
My uncle used to leave his Series LR unlocked so that anyone breaking in wouldn't do any damage.

Not sure if my key inside the house was scanned to open the car or if indeed I left it open.
The only thing I am sure of is that I was a fool to leave an ipod in the cupholder.
The wallet and it's contents have gradually worked they way back to me during the day as locals must have found where the thief tossed it and the contents away as they escaped the scene.Just 'cause you got the power... that don't mean you got the right.
