D3 OEM raised air intake issue |
|
I have a Land Rover original equipment snorkel on my 2007 D3. Recently I discovered that the tube that runs through the inner guard and connects the original air intake to the air cleaner is porous. Also the elbow where this tube joins the air cleaner has holes drilled in it. It makes no sense to me to have a raised intake if the original connecting tube is not watertight.
Does anyone know why Land Rover has this design and if replacing them with watertight fittings will cause a problem?

I would of though for those who dont have a snorkel , any water that does get it would obviously drain out before entering the air filter.
By having a snorkel you are much better protected .
But i might be wrong G4 Gone ...but not forgotten

Its marketed by LR as a Raised Air Intake and not a snorkel - so as Slimer says its primarily designed to reduce dust intake...
