D3 Loose wires on the suspension |
|
Hi Gents
I keep getting suspension faults on my D3, just orange lights that comes up. Then I restart and then 5 minutes later the same lights comes on again. It is the DSC/TC light, the air suspension warning light and the ABS warning light.
what is the first point of call in terms of looking for loose connector plugs?
Does anyone know where all of the plugs are situated?
If all of the connector plugs are checked, what is next?
The message that is dispayed on the dash indicates that the HDC has a fault, what can be done to inspect that the HDC is ok?
Thanks

Is the battery ok? I had both these faults intermittently when my battery was on its way out. Have you charged the battery lately?

It may be that your compressor is not shutting off once started, because the relay for it is stuck. I'd swap the relay in the engine bay as a first check. 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

Hi Guys
Thanks for the replies. I have changed the battery about a month ago, checked the charge regularly, 12.70volts on the dot, so it cant be the battery.
There used to be HDC faults with the previous battery, that dissappeared with the new battery.
The compressor shuts of, I always listen out for it.
I dont know what else to to? 2005 Discovery 3 V8 SE

When I dont restart the message comes up, "lowering suspension" and everything drops.

Hi wvlenthe
it is very interesting to see that maybe the 4x4 infor screen will tell you which wheel it is. I will definitely check it out tonight. I will also ensure that the brake lights and switches are working.
These cars are so complex that a fault that is unrelated might cause a suspension problem for example.
Thanks

Hi Craig,
I don't think you will be able to tell if the brake light switch is working.
My car looked totally correct but the dealer (with use of Topix obviously) concluded that the switch was corrupt. It should switch the lights first and then the brakes or so, but did it the wrong way around intermittantly...
You are right btw, I would never have guessed that something to do with brakes has an effect on suspension, but apparently it is all connected as both seem to use the same components elsewhere (abs sensors iirc).
The 4x4 info screen shot is showing a faulty height sensor if you ask me -> different problem but may result in lowering suspension too.
regards,
Wiljo
edit: memory working slowly:
same effect here, this was cured by exchanging height sensors. D3 V8 HSE Auto in Zermatt silver - driveway version gone but not forgotten, only the living room cupboard version remains
