D3 front aerial mounting bracket |
|
D3 front aerial mounting wanted. Please advise if you can tell me where to get a mounting bracket to hang an aerial off the front grill on my D3.

Hi Ross
The neatest is here :http://labtronxcomau.businesscatalyst.com/...l-bracket1
It bolts to bonnet hinge mount - very neat and unobtrusive. No drilling needed if you can put up with cable tucking in through guard/door aperture thence under mats to whereever your radio is.
But I've just noticed you wanted a front mounted one.... sorry.

I would not like to attach an antenna directly to the removable grill
If you have driving lights you could do what I did

I can see that getting ripped out by the shrubbery alongside tracks and damaging body work in the process.

I've not been brave enough to thrust my truck's paintwork through shrubbery (yet...) but it has survived brushes (pun intended) with overhanging branches well enough. It doesn't sit beyond the flare's edge.

I have had my aerial sitting on the lab mount since I got the car. I have bent the aerial but not the mount. It is very strong.
Cheers

Took a 4,000k trip over Easter (Sth Island NZ - awesome...) with 4 other trucks - all same GME radios (new slimline dinky ones) and same GME aerials.
All the others had front mount (bull/light bars) - my transmissions (aerial on Lab bracket on LH bonnet bracket mount) were the only ones which others said would break up or be scratchy.
Possibilities:
1) my aerial cable wasn't soldered in properly to plug on base of radio, or
2) Siting aerial 'close' to cabin mucks up the radio waves...
Will try option (1) fix first
