My D3... So Far!
Ahoy hoy everyone, Hello from Westbury
So, I came across this Ad for a D3 for sale last September. Its a 2006 TDV6.... base model, its got nothing in it lol no sunroof, no Logic 7, no heated windscreen .... nothing... maybe some air for you to breathe but nothing else. However, I love it regardless!
What caught my eye was it had only two owners from new, the bodywork looked mint and the interior was absolutely immaculate. It looks like the rear seats had never been sat in.
I went to have a look at the car, flicked through the service book to discover it had been serviced every 12 months at about 7-8k miles. It came with every service invoice too! i was well impressed to be honest. The only thing I could pick up on was although the cambelt had been replaced, there was no detail on the oil pump.
Anyway, I bough the car and immediately set about sorting stuff I knew needed doing. Luckily it was under warranty for 3 months as I bought from a dealer.
So, I've had done ;-
Both lower front arms - Warranty
One rear upper arm - Warranty
Oil Pump
Prop Shaft
NSF Drive Shaft
Rear Brake Lines
Rear Brakes - Discs, Pads, Shoes, Callipers & Carriers
EGR Blanked
MAP Sensor cleaned
Window seals replaced due to bubbling
Drop links all round
ARB bushes front and rear
This was a painful one - New recon gearbox and TC fitted by Gloucester Rd Gearboxes, Bristol. These guys were great I have to say. Id recommend them to anyone! The gearbox changes gear so smoothly, I can only tell its changed gear by looking at the rev counter lol
Things to do next!
Front diff as there's a slight whine at 60mph, not noticeable at all below or above!
New lower steering column required as I get clunking and nocking noises through the steering wheel.
Front discs and pads.
All in all once the last few things are done I'll be a happy bunny! LOL
It does drive really nice nice I have to say, I drive it 30miles to Salisbury and 30 miles home again and its a delight. I love it

What a beautiful Disco - a modern day classic and so good to hear someone like you is going to continue to give it the love it deserves. FWIW I'd be tempted to even change that grille back to to a nice original one!!
Stunning - there's nothing better than a respected and well loved motor D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

Lovely looking car, and no sunroof means no blocked sunroof drains and less things in it means less to go wrong (yeah right!)
Enjoy !I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Hi All, thanks for the kind words
The gearbox job was £3240 total
Didn't take long either, I think I dropped it off Saturday morning and collected after work a couple of days later
Gloucester Road Gearboxes are a really short walk from Temple Meads too which made it easier to get to after finishing work in Salisbury.
