D3 cut out

Just had the first (of many I'm sure) breakdowns.

Cut out coming off a roundabout. Just died complexly.

Wouldn't start wasn't turning over quite right at first thought I thought the cambelts had gone.

Did turn over ok and I could see camshafts moving. No fault codes. I did notice however cranking fuel pressure was 450bar which seems a tad high to me. It's 250 on idle.

Anyway after a while and sticking a jump pack on it started coughing and spluttering.

It started for a couple of seconds and cut out.

After another turning over session it started up but spluttering and misfiring and then ran fine. It ABSOLUTELY COVERED the motorway bridge in THICK grey unburnt diesel smoke but then cleared and is running as smooth as silk.

I'll get it into my workshop tomorrow but not quite sure where to start now.

Sounds very much like a fuel problem (filter/pump) or a air lock. You had more than a quarter tank, didn't you.

Yea definitely.

Just under quarter.

Gauge dropped considerably after this event however it did slowly creep back up.

Ah, that explains my lack of luscious locks. I wonder if it’ll regrow. Whistle
