....but if you leave switch on and ignition off it goes off automatically after a few minutes

That was a long departed D3 SE so its factory fitted cooler box. To complicate matters that box is now in my D3 and does the same. Gives mooooooochie cold cans of Coke ZERO.

Moi. Cradle just unclips, I took out the wiring bit & connector as well.
