I bought a ctek MXS 5 at the beginning of the first lockdown, used it constantly until March this year when it died. I put that down to bad luck and bought another one. That’s just died yesterday, same symptoms, power in but no lights and no charge. I emailed ctek customer support who said it must be returned to Amazon where I bought it.It’s being collected tomorrow and I will get a refund.
I can’t buy another of the same after this experience and looking online I am not the only one.

I thought Halfrauds stopped selling them because they'd started selling in Lidl ... perhaps it was the number of failures? .

It’s a shame for what used to be a trusted brand, but on the plus side, the guarantee works.
Now I am looking for a replacement reliable smart charger that won’t cause a financial crisis.

Plenty on eBay for inspiration.
But don’t be surprised if half of them have ctek internals!
But if you are lucky they maybe older, more reliable models

Looking at Halfrauds, they have some back in stock ... but NOCO look to be the premium charger.
Perhaps ctek have worked out how much money is in EV charging cables? .

The ones in Lidl for £13 has done great for our cars and motorcycles for the past few years.
Even if it stops working, throw away and buy again.
I think they are in again on the centre isles as i saw them a couple of days ago.

We’ve got a Maypole one and it’s been fine over the years. Wish there way a way of making connect to the tow bar adaptor from the shop though. visiting from www.rrsport.co.uk

IIRC there can be an issue with the Ctek charger button sticking. There are instructions on the net how to release it. Might be worth an investigation. Now hands up time I have to look at one of my chargers to see if it is an easy repair or not!

I've had one must be 9 years, used every other day to charge car batteries powering electric fences, changing modes to then charge the quad, and the odd car charge, its been top notch, even with randon users messing with it.
Funnily enough just had a comfort lead arrive for it today.

So have I, mine must be 10 years old and use it regular, but my 3 year old AMG battery is on its way out maybe because my Ctek that I use to charge it does not have the AMG facility. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

I had one for about two years plus, didn't get overused but it played up and ruined my tractor battery. Now gone back to my Clarke charger with no problems whatsoever. You can't beat old, uncomplicated items. And yes, I'm a bit of a grumpy old f..t! 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE

I have also given up on Ctex chargers and moved to Noco. I must have about 6 or 7 ctexs but I lost 2 in quick succession (these were some of the newer versions). I’ve got a noco twin unit to charge twin batteries on a trailer and a substantial 12/24 volt one to keep my caravan battery in top condition. The ctex ones only just got to the end of the warranty period which really annoyed me so I voted with my wallet. I also have the noco power pack unit which is very useful.
