Ctek Charger and which cable?
I am going to get a Ctek charger (probably and MX7 or 10) for my MY2015 D4 as I seem to be having the battery warning coming on at regular intervals, probably because it's not doing many miles at the moment. The question is how do I connect it to the battery? I want to be able to just lift the bonnet and plug the charger in without the need to remove the battery cover every time so I was looking at something like this http://www.amazon.co.uk/CTEK-CTE-56382-Com...T1YCTNBN0Z
Would that work for what I need to do?Cheers Ian

One like that should come with the charger, it did with my mxs10.
If so can be wired through there, failing that they come with a comfort connector that you fit to the terminals and plug into Altox GSM FBH controller thread

I see, that's good news if it already comes with one
Beanie I do have towing electrics but as they are still in a box under my desk I don't think one of Martin's cable solutions would work Cheers Ian

You just need a longer lead to reach from your desk

Here's what I did with mine. Just extended the cable, so that I don't even have to open the bonnet to plug it in!

Whilst I have towing electrics and I previously charged up the towing socket, I found it too much off a faff to remove the bumper cover and find the 13pin plug and lead each time, so connected one of those C-Tec leads directly to the +ve and -ve cabling where the towing electrics fuses are behind the nearside access panel.
Then now just remove the panel, plug in, and leave the charger in the boot with a small diameter extension cable coming out between the upper and lower tailgates.

Note: The comfort connector that comes as standard with the mxs 5 has 6.3mm eyelets and doesn't fit. I have bought the one with 10mm eyelets, but the 8mm one you linked to will be fine MY2010 D4 3.0 TDV6 HSE Stornaway grey

So charging the battery is OK to do so with it connected to the car still? I know it does this all the time with the alternator, but always thought it's best to be disconnected, that's why I never bothered topping the charge up in mine.D3 Tonga HSE 2005

Charging the battery whilst still connected in the car is fine. However, what is very important is that you don't connect the negative charging cable directly to the negative battery terminal. Connect it to a good earth on the engine or chassis.
