Great info on this here, so I take it that the switches with the white horn push symbols will not work with pre 2012 D4's:

We're not 100% sure to be honest. If the switch packs match then I think you have a fighting chance they will yes Thumbs Up (once its been coded into the ccf)

If its an eBay purchase you can use PayPal returns to send back at no expense, so worth a try Whistle

Thanks - I just bought this wheel today but probably not have it until the end of next week - what about the flappy paddles - I've read so much conflicting info about retrofitting them that I wouldn't be so sure that my 09 GS will is suitable.

Any D4 6sp can have paddles enabled, you need the software patch applying and paddles enabling Thumbs Up

Thanks Beanie that sounds good Thumbs Up - finding someone to do the GAP update over here could be difficult, although I'll be in the Carlisle area in mid Sept for a day or two so it would be great if there is anyone in that neck of the woods that could do the needful. Thumbs Up

I have to let you all know that the steering wheel arrived today and I had fitted it in about an hour, all is working (except for the flappy paddles of course).

I made an airbag extraction tool with an old wire coat hanger as described in the WIKI on here which makes removing the airbag simples. Thumbs Up

I must admit that it was by following the advice I have read on here that has made the job very straight forward. Bow down

In the end I transferred everything from the donor wheel to mine, I should be able to recoup something towards the cost by rebuilding my switches and cowl onto the donor wheel and selling it on. It is obviously important to fit the switches as a matched pair as already pointed out. Thanks to all for their sound advice. Very Happy

I take it that Nanocom don’t have a similar update to GAP for the paddle shift.

Hi,
Ive just bought a cruise control switch from the facebook sales page, the horn is not painted so it matches my LHS switch on my stearing wheel. Can you talk me through the process of changing the switch and how to activate the cruise control please m8.
Thanks,
Jim

I know, from what I have read on here, that you are better to replace a matching pair of switches (both the left and right) when doing the cruise control update, you can encounter all sorts of problems, like Bluetooth or cruise control not working, after the installation etc. Its all covered on the forum if you do a search and indeed even at the start of this thread.

You can take a chance and try, your new switch may be a match for your other existing one.

You'll see in the WIKI on here how to make yourself an airbag release tool so that you can take off the steering wheel.

A 16mm socket removes the steering wheel and a T20 torx removes the screws holding existing switch.

You'll also need to update the CCF files to enable cruise control.

It is very straight forward and you should be able to do it within an hour. I'm not being smart but it is all well documented on here how to do it. Don't forget to disconnect the battery before removing the airbag.

Right here goes lol…..

If I buy a 2010 HSE steering wheel with with both switch packs but without air bag centre.

Can I just swop my GS 2010 steering wheel for the above and use my air bag centre and then update the CCF file?

Also, in order to turn on the CCF line would I need a specific reader or can I use my own as below….

Yes this would be fine - do a search for the airbag removal tool - easy job Thumbs Up

I don't know much about this tool but suspect its more of a reader than a config writer. We mostly use IID tool or Nanocom to code the cars - or a site sponsor such as Bodsey could help code your CCF

Why swop parts from a donor wheel, why can’t you just swop the whole steering wheel?
