Cruise Control Not Permitted
I keep getting a message saying "Cruise Control Not Permitted" in my information display. This seems to happen at random times and once the message appears, only restarting the vehicle seems to clear it. Anyone have experience with this problem or know how to fix it?
Sorry - my cruise control fails at random times as well - but without any messages.
Of course, the stealers have "fixed" this on a number of occasions: 1st with software update (not fixed at all), 2nd with changing clock spring (fixed for a while - but also managed to zap the alarm system, leaving D3 at dealer for an extra day), 3rd time a year later (with another software update). I wonder if mine is from the clock spring again?
Now I have an OBD II reader, I can see I have DTC U0155 (lost comms with instrument panel). Maybe related?
(Also had P1621 - serial data link dead fault, P1934 - vehicle speed, and P1935 - brake light switch).

cruise control
I have just driven back from the alpes using cruise control most of the way (as you would on those empty marvelleous motorways). I went to use it on a bit of road only 3 miles from home and nothing just stopped working. Has anyone experienced this sort of thing before?D3 bonatti grey
Hi Guy - did you receive any warning messages like Disko3? If not - you have the same failure mode as me... random times - without messages - and a restart of the motor is all that will re-enable its use. I suspect it is the clock spring... but waiting for someone more experienced to chime in.
Cheers,
Rob

Hi disko3 - you could try asking the dealer to check they have applied all the latest updates to the instrument pack cluster? Someone will surely correct me if I'm wrong. (But they've been a bit slow on the uptake so far!)
Cheers,
Rob
P.S. Welcome!

Thanks Jonesy,
I'm keen to avoid servicing through the dealer in WA, apparently you dont walk properly after they assault you with their invoice afterwards. I'm hoping a non-dealer, LR specialist garage will be able to help also.2005 D3 SE 4.4

three main causes were software, clock spring/rotary coupler and CC switch pack. maybe you need a new set of switches?
I had the same thing. CC would not activate while driving with no error messages. I was V tired at the time and kept thinking I was doing something wrong. Eventually I gave up trying. Worked fine the next day. No problems in the 4 months since.

I had this on my 2005 D3 and it was the clock spring/rotary coupler which needed replacing.
I never got any error messages or 'bings and bongs', it would just not work at random times.
It was under warranty at the time so the dealer just changed the part.

My CC deaktivated twice on a 400km journey yesterday. First time it occured it was while driving on a very bulky road due to the frost. No clue what its called in English, but in Norwegian its called telehiv. No error messages appeared.
Seems like the very uneven road caused this to occure??
Anyway, I need a new clock spring/ rotary coupler. BUT WHAT IS IT? Anyone able to translate to Norwegian? Is it a stealer-job or can I do it myself? THANX!!!Land Rover - It Hurts So Good
