Clock Spring/Rotary Coupler is faulty.............Known issue with the D3 I am afraid. It sits behind the steering wheel and receives the messages from the buttons to the steering column,

Its a cartridge that contains a FOIL, like the old PC strips to printers...This fails...

Steering Wheel and Air Bag off to access

Seriously, How long you had the D3? Is it under warrenty?, if it is take it back to the dealer as its a known issue. If not, try the forum sponsor Nick, drop him a Pm of your requirements.

As above and tell them it is a safety issue as it can cause the airbags to "fail to deploy".

I have the very same issue (cruise not working + button or the resume button) but the audio controls are fine, I was told by the stealers that the ECU had logged a 'controls missing' fault and are putting it down to the switch pack and not the clock spring, we'll see when they replace it Rolling Eyes

I had the same even after the recall work. Fitted a new clock spring from the large one and all is ok. it took me about two hours, the first 90 minutes of which was feeling out the airbag release switches with a converted brick tie. to do it again, around 30 mins in total.

some interesting points:

1. great opportunity to fit a new soft leather wheel.
2. I added second hand phone buttons at the same time. the horn buttons were bright silver, the rest of my dash is the dull grey. so I unscrewed the switch packs and had a look. the buttons push white plastic stoppers which in turn push the circuit board. so for all those thinking the contacts aren't working for them, there is no point in spraying into the switches without taking them to bits. Secondly, it doesn't much matter what colour horn buttons come on your new switches, they can be interchanged with the old ones really quickly.
3. the new clock spring comes with a socket on each side for the heated wheel, but no wiring.

The wiring loom of the switch packs of the early disco's are bad. Known issue.
