Cross-over pipe tips and tricks
Hi guys, I recently changed my cross-over pipe and want to share an invaluable tip that helped me remove this bendy . I bought an air reciprocating saw from Aldi, £16 posted.
It's great as you can buy normal hacksaw blades and snap them to length and use them in this saw. The drivers side manifold bolts are fine to get to but it's the passenger side that has an almost impossible nut to get a socket or spanner onto.
What i did was chop the pipe off as close to the manifold as I could.
This gives you uninterrupted access to the top bolt letting you get a ratchet up in there with a good six-sided 13mm socket on it.
If the nut is starting to round off or becoming damaged, you can use an Irwin bolt extractor socket set.
Also I removed the egr cooler, exhaust, battery and battery 'box' Cover the turbo outlet as good as you can to stop swarf and metal chips entering your turbo.
If you don't have a compressor I'm sure an electric reciprocating saw will do with metal cutting blades in but be aware space is tight and watch where the blade is going. Be sure to get a good blade, I used 24tpi to 18tpi blades and could get three blades out of a standard hacksaw blade.
I hope these little tips help anybody suffering like I did and for those who don't have the budget or workshop to get the body lifted off.

Good tips, but how do you get access to that top bolt to tighten it up when you put the new onw on?
