Cradle for phone in centre console |
|
I have the LR car kit fitted which used to have a cradle for a nokia 6310 attached in the lid of the centre console. Now I know the only reason this is needed is to allow the phone to charge whilst on the road and I would like to get a mounting bracket to fit my new Nokia 6822 ..... does anyone know where I can get one of these from?
I dont really want to keep calling my dealer at the moment as they have my D3 in the workshop at the moment fixing a suspension fault ...... so any advice in this forum would be appreciated! D3 05 SE (old one)

Do you mean the LR PTI - with the cradle inside the cubby box? It isn't clear what you have, so the following may not be relevant.
If so, I wasn't aware they did a cradle for the 6310i, and they don't for the 6822 to the best of my knowledge.
If you mean an aftermarket kit of some sort, try Expansys. There are a number of cradles available that allow you to unplug the old cradle and just plug in the new one.

thanks for that .... I guess at the moment that I dont know if it is a LR part or after market ...... I just assumed it was LR.
I'll wait till tomorrow and speak to the dealer - they may be tempted to get me a cradle by way of an apology for the reliability of the car last weekend.
On the positive side I am really looking forward to getting back home this weekend to collect my car again - Mondeo Ghia does not match up to D3 in any way shape or form! (except for the wing mirror controller!!!!) D3 05 SE (old one)

it turns out that I have the LR kit fitted to the car and that I need the LR cradle to be fitted. The dealer can supply this for ONLY £80 .....(plus VAT) I feel so grateful! But it looks like I need to spend the money D3 05 SE (old one)

Just make sure that, before you lay out the money, the phone will work in the cradle. I do not think that a 6822 will work, even if it fits into the CR-3 cradle - the 6230i has the same problem.
The only benefit you will derive is charging and a better signal - you will still have to connect to the system via Bluetooth, and in some instances connecting the phone to the cradle overrides the Bluetooth system.......just be careful!
If the dealer has a CR-3 cradle available, go and try it out first before parting with you hard earned cash.

on this subject - what is the best way forward? i am getting the HSE with PTi and want to leave a phone in the car all the time, so that we can get hold of the nanny/wife when in the car - i will use my own phone on bluetooth (without a cradle) when i am in the car but i dont want my wife messing with bluetooth connections etc. If i buy a cradle for a basic nokia phone on pay as you go, will this connect every time the car is started and charge the phone - does this connect via cable to the handsfree unit or by bluetooth???? thanks for your help Discovery 4 TDV6 2010 HSE

The answer is yes - the simpler the phone, the better! The connection will be via cable, from the centre console cradle.
The downside to this solution is that you cannot connect via Bluetooth when there is a phone in the cradle/connected. You'd have to remove it for your phone to work, but once paired the connection is entirely automatic.

Winger, you wouldn't know if there is a cradle adaptor for a Nokia N70? I have the PTI on my HSE but could not find any cradles to fit my N70. Or I should just stick to Bluetooth connection?

The selection of cradles is very limited, frankly. N70 is too new.
Essentially, the only Nokia phones that will work are those that are Pop-Port compatible. However, that isn't entirely the case as the 6230 works fine, but the 6230i doesn't (though that is a combination of phone and system software).
More cradles are on the way, apparently......

By all means call, but the cradle you mention works with the base unit for that system - not the Land Rover system (which is made by Nokia).
And, it isn't just the cradle - it is also the system software.
