2015 D4. Driving on the M5 yesterday and BANG on the screen. Passenger side took impact of something and a couple of star cracks were left. Within seconds a crack started to grow and made its way to the edge of the screen.
Obviously needs a new screen so my question is what to expect/ look out for when trying to get who-ever to replace it? Do I just call Autoglass and see what comes and/or insist on a genuine LR screen? If I asked a LR dealer to do it, would they just get autoglass in anyway?
Any tips/advice greatly appreciated.
Hopefully insurance covers most of it.

Check with your insurance first as they will often require you to use 'A' or 'B' Currently 2009 Disco 3 SE, 2013 MY D4 HSE and 2016 D4 SE

Autoglass down here have a very bad reputation, my insurers wanted a fortune for the excess anyway, even for their chosen fitter, so got a local guy to supply and fit a Pilkington screen.
He arranged for me to pay his supplier direct, therefore the screen was at trade cost, and he charged £100 for his labour.
Reckon I was about £50 down on insurance for the D4, and £100 when he replaced the RRS.
Considering the finished job, doubt if I'll ever use anyone else in the future.

There a quite a few threads on here where members have had issues with replacing windscreens - making sure its a genuine LR screen, replacing with new clips etc.
Maybe worth your while having a look through them with the aid of the "search" button Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

I know LV insurance have got £140 excess on a windscreen replacement, but if you don’t take their Autoglass offering then the excess goes up and is astronomical, so be warned.

Just read previous long threads so will study my policy and go from there.
Thanks for advice, I’m a lot wiser now!

Just had mine replaced by Autoglass. They did a good job, and it has a lifetime guarantee, for leaks or the element not working etc.
No idea if it’s genuine or not.

Just to finish this thread, I had Autoglass fit the correct Pilkington screen and I paid £803. I sent bill to Admiral who at first ignored my correspondence. Eventually got them to agree to pay it minus the £115 excess AND gave me £100 for the hassle! Lesson learned, watch out for insurance companies hiding in their T & C that they reserve the right to fit ANY replacement part when vehicles are 5+ years old.

I had the same scenario with LV / Autoglass.
LV promised me genuine LR /Pilkington screen but when I got to autoglass they had Fujiyo (??) screen and even after arguing with LV they would only pay for the aftermarket one as apparently LR use the cheaper chinese ones from factory now.
I later discovered they were correct but only on Evoque and Discovery Sport, and the one I had fitted should be have been a Pilkington one.
The cheaper one failed on me a few months later, passenger side heating elements stopped working. 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

I contacted Motorclaimsguru.com and he was very helpful stating that the insurance company has to make the vehicle as it was before the incident by law so to keep insisting.
