2011 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 GS Auto Java BlackDiscovery 4

Just to advise - My inlet manifold split a couple of weeks ago. Warranty have turned it down as it is a known manufacturers inherent fault. Not surprising, as they are made out of plastic!

Fault code is LTB00768

Land Rover should resolve this for you. The legal standing is that the seller (dealership) is responsible for having a manufacturers inherent fault rectified.

Ah, thanks, so Landrover have little room to wriggle on that then, if their own extended warranty say it's down to them.

Cracked Manifold

Similar issue: restricted performance error message kept coming up. Took it to local indy and found the flow sensors were not reading correct, tested the manifold with smoke machine, low and behold a cracked manifold.
Car is 2012 D4 with 89k on the clock.

Been fixed this week hopefully, just waiting for Warranty Direct to come back.

Had similar problems two weeks ago and that turned also out to be a cracked inlet manifold on the right side. 2014d4 110k km. Approx. €1250,- mainly because of the labor involved.

Had it fixex by am official dealer in the Netherlands. Am now reading this thread; is there a way to claim this back from Landrover?

Cracked inlet manifold also

I have just had a Landrover customer service man sent out by the AA after suffering the restricted performance warning with P006a code tell me that the right offside inlet manifold has cracked at the joint where the two halfs are welded together. He says he gets about two of these a year and is a known fault. Sounds very expensive as he says its a long job.
I purchased the car second hand so assume no point in winging to Landrover.
Landrover guy who came out was very good.

You should still contact LRCS, in my opinion. They need to be made aware of the failures, if nothing else. There is a TSB out on this manufacturing defect so you never know, you may get some form of contribution towards fixing it.

I had my 2010 Discovery 4 o/s split manifold replaced foc by a main dealer last year.
It is a well known manufacturing defect.
Cause: Material thickness and fillet radius of the valve cover not to specification.
You should not have to pay anything.

tried this out with the local dealer, they had no intention of offering to pay for it, stated I had to have it diagnosed by them (£150) on top of the diagnostics bill already paid elsewhere and they were of the opinion that I would be lucky to get 25% based on the age. Given that the local garage quoted and delivered for less than £700 or thereabouts, this was not going to work out. So now new manifold in . place, performance back, oh wait there is that 'restricted performance' light again...... Censored but no loss of power, it is on and off intermittently, not caused by putting power down, in again to be checked! I am beginning to think that the D3 I let go was less hassle than this.......

Nightmare-- I have read this thread and wonder what the success rate of people getting this paid by LRCS..?
Just took mine to be serviced by local garage- they have confirmed diagnosis by smoke test. I have called LRCS who say I have to take it to a franchised dealer for diagnosis and get them to report. My car is a 2011 with 80k miles- any experience about how likely they are to contribute?
I have called 3 dealers in a radius of 40 miles of Cardiff- all give different answers?
Obviously if LR will cough up that is better for me - so far quoted £700 plus VAT
