Cost to make good bodywork after RAI removal

I'm lobbying the missus to agree to me getting an RAI. (yes I know I'm pussy-whipped)
Anyway - I've cleared the purchase and fitting hurdles.

Does anyone know how much it's likely to cost to sort out the holes in the body once I come to remove the RAI again and sell the car?

cheers
rob

Was quoted £300 ish by a bodyshop to sort this... apparently Silver is not a good colour to match so a complete re-spray of the wing and matching into the door is required.

Left it on when I handed DU54 back and bought one off a chap for £50 for my new D3 Thumbs Up

Saved me £££ big time.

You could just put some plastic grommets in and say they are for the RAI if they want to install one. Idea

Rob leave it on its one of the extras we fit that does not upset many potential buyer(s) unless of course you want to put it on a new one

Anyhow the next evolution D3 will have the air intake on the other side Whistle

Problem is it makes a mess of the paintwork around the inlet hole too where it's tightened down onto the wing, which is why my second D3 got a (hopefully) protective layer of gaffer tape around the hole before I fitted the RAI The End

Slimer, did you stick the gaffer tape to the car or to the RAI? Just worried about the sticky residue (but not as worried about paint worn by the plastic RAI rubbing against it!)

Did someone do some Neoprene cover to go between the RAI and the car? Anyone have some spare?

yes , pm me your address Bods.Ridgeback is getting some aswell. As I've told him its only a 50 mm wide strip. If you cut it into narrower strips it does a good job.I'll also ask a lad I know if he can get it a wider roll ( say 150 mm) that you could cut a non jointed piece out of it ( if that makes sense?) It has one sticky side aswell.

I'll hold off posting any until I get an answer from the chap above.I haven't called him yet but will see him on site tomorrow Rolling Eyes

I would'nt bother, I dont intend to get rid of it, nor remove it. What the eye cannot see. And anyway if its gonna cost £300 to sort, then leave it on and buy a new one when you buy another Thumbs Up

Thanks DW
Will send PM.

Mac, I understand that view, but point is, I don't know what I'll do when it comes to getting rid, so If I have all the bases covered, I can make a choice at that time Thumbs Up

Tonga but it doesn't need to be perfect for p/ex. The intake grille is the focus for the eye so an exact paint match isn't needed IMHO

The car, sticky stuff is easy to get off paintwork when/of the time comes and if it does make a mess of the paint I'll be no worse off than I was last time Rolling Eyes The End
