Correct Rating on non standard alloys / tyres
Hi all, first post from me having being pointed here by an existing member ...
I've put some 18" BMW 162 alloys on my D3 with some 275 65s, after seeing a pic of them on the truck he asked if these were sufficiently rated.
It's not something I even thought about as I'm not massively clued up on stuff like this - and apparently not that bright - so I wondered if anyone had any experience, advice or knowledge they could pass on.
I think they look really good but I'd sooner not have any issues.
Thanks in advance

Hi
Must admit Never seen them fitted before , I believe D3 wheel rims 17, 18 & 19") have been rated at 940kg per rim , tyre sidewalls rated at 111T
Details should be stamped on the inside of ur wheel rims , also if I may plse add would advise ur insurance company
More knowledgeable members will more than likely seen these rims before and can advise better than myself , hope the above may help in the meantime

Thank you for your reply, very much appreciated.
I have notified my insurance about them and other bits and pieces I have modified / added but I'm now worried about the safety aspect.
I'm looking through the various posts now to see if I can learn a bit more. Some very knowledgeable people on here by the looks of it.

Ur very welcome and at least then they know
Alas I’ve been unable to find the wheel rim weight spec, but hopefully should be stamped on the inside so at least then ur know if they rated for the D3 , inc seeing what ur sidewall tyre rating is
Indeed and extremely helpful to , don’t think there’s many subjects that haven’t been covered
What make are the tyres plse as should be easy to check them if it helps
Found some details but not the kg rating , off a series 3 E90

Yeah, despite my best efforts I haven't been able to find any info online regarding the weight rating - other than the genuine BMW rims appeal to be heavier than the copies. Mine are genuine I believe.
The tyres are Cooper Discoverer AT3s I think. I haven't gone on to look at those quite yet. I'd hate to have to replace the whole set up at this point

Funny enough have Cooper Discoverer AT3s on my D3
At least ur know for sure quickly checking on the inside of the wheel rim and also seeing what the load index tyre rating is
Suppose my only concern would be the weight comparison BMW series 3 E90 Vs a D3 if the rims are up to spec
Plse let us know how u get on

Well at least I know the tyres are up to the job, that's good news.
Best I can do is take one of the wheels off and have a look then. Hopefully I should be ok but I guess we'll see. I'll let you know what I find.
The speed rating is debatable... I'm fitting V rated tyres, which means I'm good for Warp Factor 5 when the car can't actually do above 115mph..

I would bet that the wheels aren't sufficiently load rated for a Disco. The max gross mass of an E90 was 2300kg (https://www.car.info/en-se/bmw/3-series/e90-56457/specs) which is starting weight for a Disco. Load it up with some big mates or a pile of DSL's fire wood and you're going to be half a tonne over that meaning the wheels are going to be carrying at least 100kg more than they would have expected to carry in their original location.
Don't hit any pot holes with them....Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

It will be more than that, a D3 gross is 3230kg , over 900 kg more.

A dude has to stay warm. Mind you, my standard camping loadout might have got me up to the limit.

I did see 885kg in an eBay add for them but nothing “official”.
