Coolant level warning light
Hi,
I have the "low coolant" warning light pop up on the dash under heavier than normal acceleration.
I've read the posts on here about the sensor/level taking on fluid and not being buoyant.
Is it a new coolant tank or is it a replacement sensor that fits in the tank?
A search says PCJ500030 - is the sensor and LR020367 is the bottle.
Does the bottle come with the sensor and can I just swap the sensor in the original bottle?
Cheers
Jim

Make sure the coolant level isn’t actually dropping ( You can get a leak from an EGR cooler or from the plastic water manifold on top of the engine ). If there’s definitely no leak then just replace the whole bottle which has a new sensor inside.

Yes the level is correct. Not tried revving it on the drive, will try that now.
Thanks

The level is on the upper line of the "cold fill range". Revving it on the driveway, I can see the level drop by about a cm or 2 and when I let off the revs the level returns to normal.
I couldn't get the light to come on whilst doing that on the drive.
Would that suggest it's just the float then?
Cheers

Thread hijack.
Does the V8 EGR suffer from leaks as mine is loosing water, pump changed (definitely one leak) and thermostat housing (not leaking). If not EGR then head gasket as chemical test turns slightly green.Series 1 V8

Update: Coolant flow question
Hi,
I changed the coolant reservoir and it sorted the warning light issue for a good while. The other day however, the warning came on again. I stopped and checked the level and it was the same as when I changed the reservoir.
I figured I may have air trapped (changed the bottle using clamps on the pipes) and its worked its way round causing an air lock?
Tried the bleed procedure as shown in Topix and when I rev the engine to 3000rpm, I can see the coolant level drop quite a bit, but not out of the bottom of the bottle or anything.
I topped it to 30mm over the line as it said and now it's sat at 30mm over the max fill. Is this normal? I suggest probably not.
Threads on here say to look for a steady flow of coolant, but I don't seem to have one at all?
The engine doesn't overheat, or spike/fall on the temp guage and other than that low coolant warning, seems to be running fine.
I've undone both bleed valves on the bottle and top of the engine and coolant comes out, not air.
Any ideas what to check please?
Thanks

Cancel my last. I was having a blonde moment (other hair colours are available).
I was removing the bleed screws whilst the engine was running and it didn't seem to do anything.
Tried it with the engine cold and air came out and the coolant in the expansion tank settled.
Just followed the Topix instructions again and its now mid level with a steady flow of coolant.
