confused about D4 service intervals and value dealer stamp

Wondering if anyone out there in D4 land can help me understand the servicing required?

I've got an Aug 09 build 2.7 D4 with 23,000km on it, had to have the 48,000km / 2 year service today costing $1197 ( $693 was labour Shocked ) which seems a lot to pay given the low mileage on the car. This included a 20% special offer on service, so apparently I have got a good deal? Rolling Eyes
Going at this rate I'll be up for replacing some major parts in the future following the LR dealer schedule just to get a stamp in the service book. I'm not being tight, just want to make sure I'm not getting a load of flannel from the dealer.... Yawn

Are the stamps really worth that much when you sell in the future? Question

I have always decided how long I am going to keep a car B4 deciding which route to go down.I keep within the dealer network until the warranty runs out, just in case, then look for a good local specialist/indy.
I personally believe it makes a difference with a "newer" car,but maybe someone in the trade will be along to put me right.

Manufacturers claim that the time as opposed to mileage requirements are based on the fact that fluids, rubber components etc deteriorate over time not just through wear and tear.

I don't have this issue with my D3 but do with my wife's car, as said above whilst it is under warranty I would stick with the schedule and decide from there.

Cheers

I'm still unconvinced of the benefits of a dealer stamp vs indy which I have always used before, never had any issues with their service or recommendation of what needs doing. Seems a dealer wants to do the fully monty on the LR service list whereas a good independent will advise if anything can be left to the next oil change eg fuel filter or pollen filter. I've gone indy

Does it really take so many man hours in labour to inspect a vehicle and replace pollen filter, fuel filter, oil / filter?
