The Computer Thingy That Learns Your Driving Style ...
I read in all the bumf that came with my car that that engine-computer thingy learns how you like to drive and adjusts the engine management accordingly. So what sort of things does it change?
The reason I ask - my car is in the shop and it's only a week or so old so I've been driving it quite gingerly (nothing serious, just some anti-UV film being put on the windscreen; they did all the other windows but fogot the big one). The dealer has loned me their demo car for the day and it drives completely differently. I put this down to a demo car being thrashed to high heaven and so it's learned differently than my car which has been pussied around for the first 1000km or so.
it's most notable when pulling away; my car is almost sluggish and lurches from stop whereas the demo car is smoother and more progressive and more urgent.
Does this make sense, or am I subconciously driving the demo car differently? And can I have it's memory blanked, Men In Black style, so that once I'm happy everything is run-in and smoothl;y working I can teach it in a more aggressive way.

Works with the auto transmission, it learns your driving style and adapts the gear changes accordingly. It can take a while to learn. Yours is also new so not run in as much.

Had the same experience trying multiple loaner cars before purchasing - interesting how 'different' they can feel, whether real or imagined.

I was told to press the accelerator pedal 3 times in quick succession whilst driving clears the memory. Not sure that this is true though. I know that 10forcash can clear the memory using his puter. The memory is also linked to the ignition key.In the Beginning there was nothing, which exploded.

the ONLY way to reset the adaptive gearbox settings is to use IDS or Autologic diagnostic tools, the learning curve is a rolling 150 miles so if you have a loaner then it will adapt to your 'style' the longer you have it
