Compressor - How to tell which one I have?

Hi.

I'm thinking of servicing my compressor as I keep getting the normal height only error. Is there a way of knowing which compressor I'll have without getting under the car?

I have the iCarsoft LR2 which gives live data if that's any help.

Cheers

Adri

Adri

Only three bolts to remove the compressor housing beneath the nearside rear passenger door and you'll be able to identify what type of Compressor you have.

Would also be a good opportunity to remove the housing and have a quick spray with soapy water to see if you have any leaks around the hoses or dryer cap (common to crack between hose connections) which might explain your warning message.

SP Thumbs Up
 Mods so far:

New wheel winch
Instrument upgrade (clock on dash)
D4 fascia + Garmin nuvi
LED side light, interior etc
New FL2 rear wheel arch seals
Parrot MKi9200 hands free kit

That's three 10 mm bolts to remove the cover. To take compressor out, three more bolts need removing plus disconnect hoses - not hard to do

AMK ones tend not to have a cover and just a flat plate under the car.
So that’s a clue.

I had mine off the other day and that was an AMK with plastic covers top and bottom.

Grease all bolts well when refitting, makes life so much easier the next time.

turns out it's an AMK. Had the normal height only error every time I went out in it today. I've been underneath spraying with soapy water and can't see any leaks.

monitored the compressor temp and gallery pressure raising up to off road height...

temp started at 68 deg c then went up to about 105 deg c and gallery pressure was 96kPa and went up to 1500 kPa then I bottled it and turned the engine off.

does this sound normal or not?

Any help welcome.

I think its about 1750kpa before it switches off 1500 seems a tad low so pump might be on its way out also check around the air tank for leaks
do you know how long the pump has been fitted
 please excuse any grammer/punctuation mistakes,i'm thick,thankyou

Adri, most D3's came with a Hitachi compressor so as you have a AMK this may indicate that the compressor has been changed previously and possibly for the same reason. There may be a overhaul kit for AMK but not sure
