So,, I've taken the plunge,
The Silver HSE D3 05 is having open brain surgery.
I bought a complete ECU kit from Ebay and I'm going to set a plan over the WE to fit it.
I've lost the central locking RF signal to the FET. The signal is coming down but there is no action from FET so I'm going to replace the whole lot. I think it probably has something to do with the swimming pool in the passenger footwell and the leak was directly above the CJB.
Has anyone done this before. I'd say I am moderately confident this will work.
I've got my IID tool ready not BT unfortunately but its a start.

do you mean you are going to fit a 2nd hand replacement fusebox/CJB behind the glovebox ?
if yes, then I think it has an imboliser in it, so would investigate how you will program it before starting

You would need the complete set to make it work, it has been done before.

I had an issue with my CJB (due to muppetry on my part in the main, but was playing up anyway) and had to be replaced - I didn't do it myself as although I probably could have done most of it, the cost to supply and fit was not much more than the cost for me to supply only - and the CJB is a bitch to replace due to where it is.
Dunno what you paid for the complete kit, but I hope it was well south of £500 Mark.

So now that I’ve installed the ecu’s I’ve got another problem. The car won’t start.
Well it did then when I thought great I’ll check the car works on the remote it didn’t start back up again.
So now it won’t start and won’t lock on the fob either.
I’ll need to get another license to check , but the only fault I can get to come up is one from the transfer case controller saying VIN invalid.
Will the transfer case prevent starting???
The rabbit hole is getting deeper. D3 2005 S Manual

3 vins on the ecu's have to match so if you have the 4x4 saying its a vin miss match, then it sounds like your other vin check ecu's are complaining .
I think with you locking the car its seen the vin differences and cjb has no it does not match.

Well I have to admit this is not an easy job.
As the donor D3 was a standard motor and not HSE the Cruise control buttons are not activated so makes it difficult to navigate IID tool. Then the interface it rather rubbish across the laptop keeps hanging.
Along with the fact that the VIN is not the same as the IID so I need to add another VIN to my IID
Having replaced all the controllers I can still not get the FOBs to work from the donor car which leads me to think that this issue is something else.
Maybe I have missed something.
1. Splice checked out OK.
2. Wiring OK to the
3. ECU's swapped and still the FOBS are not functioning.
4. Tried RF receiver in other car works fine.
4. I have read the WSM and it's not giving anything else for me to look at.
Anyone been down this hole and back yet? Maybe I need to look at the Wiring again but I dont think that there is any signal that is needed to work the remote fob other than the signal from the receiver. D3 2005 S Manual
