Rode in a friends LR4 today it was so silent over every bump and crack in the road it made me want to dump my D3 instantly. Clearly LR have improved the interior rear cabin noise that I am plagued with.... 16 D4 Landmark

I'd check the rear anti roll bar bushes, we had the same sort fo rattle and it turned out to be play in the bushes. Replaced them wid modded ones form lr and no more rattle

I've got the revised arb bushes, also got new trim clips installed in rear. My D3 still sounds like I've got a bag of craftsman wrenches banging around. I think its a problem with the tailgate. 16 D4 Landmark

Put a small dab of grease on the black plastic bushes that the tailgate sits on - the ones that make contact with the spring loaded bushes about halfway down the upper tailgate opening - believe me, works wonders 
On the D4, they are made of a more pliable rubber rather than hard plastic
Also, seat mechanisms can creak
Dont think all D4's are silent - mine has a dashborad / passenger seat rattle that I can haer from the drivers side side but not when I'm a passenger - doing my head in - latest suspect is passenger seat

I actually bought and installed the new tab and rubber socket guides for the rear upper tailgate. It did help but the noises seems like something more severe. 16 D4 Landmark

The rattle is the nearside of the upper tailgate - quick solution is leaving it open when driving!
About to trawl the forum for fixes - seem to be latch on tailgate not holding tight against car. Tony

Hoovered the car out today and lithium greased the hinges, door straps etc. Got to the tailgate and found one of the buffers missing. Sorted this and with the tailgate closed, pushed on the glass. The rattle was definitely coming from the top gate. Worked lithium grease into the sliding 'bush' mechanism and the rattle has gone. Drove the 'rattle journey' in silence to prove it. Thought this might be useful.

As far as I can tell, usual causes of rattles seem to be:
Empty beer cans strategically placed in the bumpers
Tools under the second row seats
Shackles in the rear cubbyholes
Recovery ropes thrown in the back
Wheel changing bits in the airjack bag
Thermos flask knocking against the 6th spare wheel in the boot
Crate of beer... The next American ex-pat that calls it a "truck" is going to find out what 2.7 tons feels like on their foot...
Club "yes, I too have had the EGR's replaced..."
Club "yes, I too have had the compressor replaced..."
Club "yes, I too once had the car at the dealer for a couple of weeks nearly 4 weeks over 4 weeks...5 weeks"
Club "yes, I too have had EPB failure..."
Club "yes, I too get mysterious bings and bongs..."

had to go to main dealer for something else and they found exactly the same thing - one of the buffers is missing and the cause of rattly/loose tailgate at lower left. Problem solved.
