More cold starting woes - glowplugs question |
|
Hello all,
After suffering really poor starts during this cold weather (TDV6, and always waiting for coil light to go off, too!), I took the advice of the forum and had the battery replaced (the disco is over 5 yrs old now). It had suffered all the usual symptoms of "Special Programs not available" etc for a while, so needed done. (Local tyre garage, paid £130).
It's now better, but it's certainly not perfect... so I'm suspecting the glowplugs need changed too...?
It'll start on the first "key cranking session", but takes about 3 seconds.
Has anyone had this done recently, and what it the ballpark figure for replacing all six?
I've been quoted £207 (2 hours labour, 6 plugs, VAT).
Any help appreciated,
Thanks,

Also, I've noticed that the vent tube hasn't been reconnected to the battery.
I've asked the garage about this, and they say that's fine as it's not essential?
I'd reconnect it myself, but the connecting plug doesn't fit into the (smaller) hole on the new (Banner) battery.
Can anyone advise if it is indeed okay to leave the vent tube disconnected??
Thanks,
