Code crack, navigation on the move
Hopefully this works on the D3, it works on the RR Sport.
Thanks to a friendly LR source.
You can enable the navigation on the move whenever you want it with a few extra steps.
I've tried it and it can be entered on the move to enable nav function input.
1. Press button to 'Navigation Menu' screen.
2. Press centre of screen to right of word 'menu' for 5 seconds or until diagnosis keypad appears.
3. Put in 1791 and press 'OK'
4. Screen will go back to diagnosis waiting for another code. At this point press the 'return' arrow at top right of screen.
5. Navigation menu will appear with full functions.
This is a one time per journey, i.e. Ignition off, car locked and after 5 mins the system defaults back.
Still it's better than nothing and with practice just takes a few seconds extra.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news Tasmod, but we have all been told this a number of times before.
What we really want is a hack that is permanent or, better still, one that prevents the disclaimer coming up every time we start

Having looked at the owner manuals for the 07MY navigation system, the disclaimer screen is very different and would seem to indicate that input on the move is possible 8) (i.e. they now warn you that it 'may cause injury' ) although I suspect you'll still have to 'agree' to it

'07MY screen text:-
Distraction may cause accidents.
Never enter data whilst driving.
Always concentrate on driving
and obey traffic regulations.
See Owners Handbook.
from the handbook:-
To use the system, read the warning and touch
Agree.
Note: In some countries the front seat
passenger may enter data whilst the vehicle is
in motion.

Been thinking, if Chris (LRTuning) can access the important parts of fuel control and other maps to improve the performance, etc. can someone with his type of access get to the 'map' for the navigation system? Or is that not part of the CANbus?
Of course, it also raises the legalities of 'hacking' and the likelihood of an incident where lives are at risk because someone was 'fiddling' with navigation input.
Still, someone has probably thought about it or attempted it.

unfortunately they're completely different systems, although both are not operated in isolation (the nav. system takes info from the ABS system, which is linked to the engine and just about everything else by the high speed CAN) It's a bit like Apple and Microsoft, they both use common protocols (IPv4, RIP etc.) to 'talk', but without translation software, they can't understand each other...
