clutch replacement - warranty denied ! |
|
Hi
new member with a problem
I have had the clutch slip smell problem (as identified in various threads)
This became worse during recent alpine skiing holiday
decided to sort it and found info on disco3 site for TSB 308-001
went to dealer (webbers basingstoke)
they 'tested the car' and could not find problem (idiots !)
I was then informed that they could look at clutch but this would be 6 hours labour
if the clutch 'did not appear faulty' I would have to pay
Now I think this is all wrong and does nothing for the brand
It is clear cut to me in the way that TSB 308-001 reads that the work should be done under warranty
so help please - any advice welcome especially if any one knows a dealer who would like to help
preferably south of the midlands
On another note I love the car (I have had shoguns landcruisers X5) the d3 is the best by far
I will collate my experiences and do a comprehensive post
Congrats on the site Illegitimi Non Carborundum

I think Dom regards Westovers highly and Slimer says the one in Reading (Lancasters?) is good. DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

I recommend Westover if you want to buy a new D3 but consider Yeovil LR good for other stuff incl. parts discount (cheers Nick), servicing costs and warranty work 2004 Discovery 3 - gone

You could try MJ Fews, Charfield, just north of Bristol off M5.
Dont know about the clutch as mine is auto but they have been good with everything so far Duncan

Not sure if you have sorted to problem by now...
But forget Webbers in Basingstoke... IMO they do try it on... They tried to 'do' me off when quoting to fit options when I was buying my D3 - they doubled up on fitting costs and tried to hide them..!
As Pelyma says, try Lancasters in Reading (01189 658400)... Doug or Suzanne in the Service dept are very helpful and if you work in Basey you may even get the car collected from and returned to your workplace...
Good luck...
