How do you close, or adjust the windows after turning off the engine and the system has shut down. On the D3 you'd just turn the key to the first position, but on the D4 it looks like you have to start the engine - is that the case?

PS, and with cold starting, does the system wait for the glowplugs to have warmed up before trying to start the engine. Volvo XC90 B5 Plus Dark

Just push the start button without your foot on the brake.
That will turn the ignition on without starting the engine. 
Yes, on cold days there will be a delay between you pressing the start button and the engine turning over. MY2022 D5 HSE D300 - with extra nice bits added

Or use your key fob - hold the unlock button to open and hold the lock key to close - simples
