Picked up a loud clicking noise from front right wheel after our trip to Salisbury Plain yesterday.
at first I assumed it was a stone, wood stuck between the brake disc and the dust sheild. However, had the wheel off this morning and its coming from the CV Joint / Wheel bearing area, but only on right lock. sprayed it with the hose pipe whilst turning the wheel and brown water ran out, so I reckon there must be some grit etc stuck in the teeth on the CV joint.
however, my question is ?
Does that sound a reasonable cause. Ive had a CV joint and a wheel bearing fail several times in the past on D3 and Defender, and the noise is nothing like the clicking noise I have.
At the moment im wondering if its is just grit and it will work itself loose, or whether its a sign of a failing CV joint / Bearing.
I need to go to Reading tomorrow for 2 days and really cant cancel the two days so wondering if the run to reading and back will clear it up. I was intermittent on the way back from Salisbuty yeaster day so maybe it is just grit.
anyone had a simliar clicky noise and what was it ? Duncan

It's a good feeling when you find out that it's not going to cost an arm and a leg to fix.
