Cleaning Combustion Chamber Internals. |
|
I have been doing quite a bit of work on my 2011 Disco 4 SDV6 over the last twelve months preparing it for reliable outback travelling.
I had on going issues with Reduced Performance faults etc, etc.
I have only had the engine going on and off for short periods of time with the engine running so rich that the exhaust would blanket out the rear of the car.
I have finally found out what the cause was, "fuel injectors", I removed them all a few months ago and cleaned them all, but broke all the rules set down for cleaning them properly and now have to pay the the ferryman for new units so if any of you have any suggestions as to where I might get some good quality units at a reasonable price I would be grateful for your help.
However that is not why I have posted this thread, I need to ask if anyone has had experience with cleaning the interior of the engine (combustion chambers) without the benefit of a running engine.
This comes about because of the engine, when I did have it running, but so rich that it has more than likely carboned up the combustion chambers, so I would prefer to clean as much of this out as possible before fitting new injectors which may be affected to some degree or even be clogged up a bit by the excessive gunk still in the combustion chambers.
I was contemplating pouring some solution (or whatever, any suggestions would be appreciated) down each of the vacated injector ports allowing it to soak in for a period of time, then evacuate it all by cranking the engine over and allowing the gunk to be flushed out via the still vacant injector ports.
Has anyone done this before?
Good or bad, please let me know what the results were and of course your opinion of my proposal for cleaning out the combustion chambers.
Regards:-
