My Christmas tree dash and various fixes |
|
Today I went and fetched a brand new Yuasa battery . 150 amp hour 3000 model. £138 with three year warranty.
At rest before fitting it read 12.5 volts. On the car running on tickover it was reading 14.05 volts. That is more than the old battery was pushing out.
The brake switch is a brand new original Landrover boxed one. Battery looks strong at 14.05 volts?
If this doesn’t fix it then I’m off to buy an alternator for it......
Then it’s a gallon of petrol and a match. Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Why don't you stop randomly replacing parts and just get the codes read? Mods:

You WILL in the future need a dedicated code reader time and time again, in my opinion it should be the first thing you buy. You should consider getting one.

Well, why don't you put out a shout for a forum member close to you to help out?
Start a new thread, entitle it "Help needed near Leicester" and see who responds. There will, very likely, be a member close by who will help read your codes over a brew and a chat.
You cannot ( unless you have bottomless pockets ) keep on randomly replacing parts hoping to hit a bullseye with the right one especially when the vehicle has an onboard diagnostic recording system that only needs accessing with a suitable tool.
Good luck with it, because without reading the codes, you're gonna need it. Mods:

Fresh battery has gone on and so far no Christmas tree lights on the dash. 14.06 volts on tickover sound ok?
Where would I go to buy a code reader that would talk to my car please? I have two in the garage and neither will. Also how much are the code readers which will talk to my car?
I seem to recall on our last D3 the similar type of problem with a chafed wire causing the suspension to play up- and down- but the specialists code reader told us nothing of any use?
How good are they?

Duckworth Parts (a site sponsor) sells the IID Bluetooth which seems to be the most popular code reader/diagnostic tool:
https://www.disco4.com/forum/sale-gap-iid-...9-150.html
There are other code readers (icarSoft) but the consensus on this forum is that the IID tool is by far the best.
They so also come up for sale on here:

In the interim, as suggested by Narpy, it would be a good idea to post on here for help from other forum members near you who have an IID that can read your codes and give clearer clues as to your problems Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

The machine for 400 quid appears to be a slot into the port on the car unit. I guess you need to use a computer to see what it has learnt? Information sent via Bluetooth? Discovery 3 tdv6 HSE 2007

Some do and some dont
I use my Samsung Galaxy 5 to use the app.
I tried a Samsung Nexus 10 tablet but the app won't work with it.
I like using my phone as it sits in a cradle next to the steering wheel and you can monitor live values whilst driving ( on private roads of course )

I use an iPad and /or my iPhone 6 with my Gap reader. They both work beautifully.
