Hi Euan,
So a weird question - What fuel do you use & where do you get it from (does it vary or usually the same)?
It's a 12 plate BTW 8)

Oh yeah....it is a ‘12 plate (I still have the original plates somewhere)
Funnily enough, the fact that I only put supermarket fuel in it came up in conversation with the guy who is currently trying to get to the bottom of the issue
Marsie mentioned changing the fuel filter earlier on the thread

Hi Euan,
All good thank you - i'm still running round in the replacement 13 plate 110 (among a few other things).
I'd run the fuel down - change the filter and stay away from supermarkets and remote location (i.e. low volume) stations.
Worth a try before getting into big bucks.
I won't get into my thoughts on the whole supermarket fuel debate - but i'll never use it except in an emergency.
Hope you get to the bottom of it.
Regards

Mine has done around a 1000 miles since with no probs (fingers crossed) but apparently the fuel filter housing on our year cars are a common fault showing the water in fuel fault. Luckily mine genuinely seems to have been water in fuel rather than a dodgy sensor
I nearly aways fill up at tesco so MJIbex may be onto something?

Quick update (or not, as the case may be).
dropped in yesterday to see how he’s getting on with it (he’s slightly demented )
While I’m not able to get it to to him under current rules, Disco Mikey very kindly agreed to take a phone call (Thanks Mike) and gave my local guy some pointers where to look for possible trouble, but despite checking them, it still throws up a random fault.
I mentioned the fuel filter, and he’s going to try that.
Watch this space
Ps, I only ever fill up at Tesco too, maybe they’re allergic ? "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

It’s around about now that the OP realised his folly in calling a new thread “cheapest fix ever”
As part of the attempt to get to the low turbo pressure problem, a new fuel filter was fitted. It would appear it wasn’t fitted properly.....anyway, I managed to “use” a quarter of a tank in 6 miles, which must be some sort of new record ?
This “cheapest fix ever” jibe may come back and bite me

I do really like it, and to be fair, in this instance I don’t think it’s the car.
Doesn’t harm to have a wee look in Autotrader though "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to speak out and remove all doubt" ?.....what rubbish...

What was the fault that caused all this in the first place? (Not the fuel leak)
