Changing Xenon to Halogen Head lamps
Hi
I have had my Disco 4 nearly 3 years and am about to change does any one know if you have to change the settings on the car when you put the original Halogen lights back on, as I upgraded to xenon's and had Bodsey change the car settings?

If the CCF (Car Configuration File) was changed to accommodate xenon's, then halogens are re-fitted, you will find the halogens will work just fine but the bulbs will have a short life unless the CCF is changed back.
Reason being that the halogens are set up for a "soft start" where the supply is ramped up (relatively) slowly to reduce the shock on the bulb filaments when turned on, if left this way for the xenon's it causes them to flicker at start.Clive

Thank you for the great advise as normal.
Ian (Bodsey) has called round and sorted the lights and also my heated wheel, so my old Disco is ready for a new owner.
Really excited about getting my new Disco 4 HSE in Kaikoura Stone I think this is a great colour!
I will be putting the old Xenon headlights onto for sale as the new one already has Xenon's, these were brand new and fitted by Bodsey what a difference Xenon's make they should always have been standard kit on this car!
If anyone is interested please pm me directly.

But the op has a D4. You don't get any flickering of xenons on a D4 if you don't change the CCF file to say it has xenon - no flickering because they don't work at all without the CCF change on a D4, i.e. they don't even illuminate!

You are absolutely correct !
Thanks to Bodsy all sorted surprising that the main dealer couldn't access the CCF!
Xenon's are essentiall on any Disco never order without as the standard lights are rubbish!

Yes sorry, I read the question without looking at the OP's profile

Hi Clive
Don't apologise the one thing I really like about this forum is that everyone feels they can offer advise or opinion without a tirade of abuse unlike other forums I have been on !!
