I think it's Ok - ETA OK, but why does it still (try) and take me off the motorway only to get back on it again at the same junction Laughing - seems to only do this on the M5 for some reason
Also some of the 'alternative' routes to avoid congestion seem to be ridiculously long
But, it is better than the one in my D3 and I assume the MY13 is better still than my MY10

No, not only M5 - did it to me on the A55 yesterday. Problem was that as I swept off the A55, around the roundabout and back on to the A55, the wife and father-in-law were following behind....except they stayed on the A55....So they have been laughing at my expense ever since.... Rolling Eyes

I think the thing to remember with Sat navs is they are not intelligent, they only do what the programing software allows. For example if you put in shortest route it can take you down a very narrow back lane and then back on the road that you just came off a few miles further on, because it is a few hundred yards shorter via the lane. So an element of common sense is always required. Neutral

Just added the camera POI to the system, now pinging me every five seconds in town.....

I note that I don't have the speed sign icons, but only the camera icons. Is there a way to get gpx files with the speed sign icons included? I tend to travel around areas where I have no idea from one second to the next what the speed limit is (dual carriage way, but with lamposts, but are they far enough apart...blah blah...then dual carriageway with no lamposts) and the TomTom very effectively shows me the speed limit in the bottom of the screen, as well as warning me with a speed sign icon for up and coming GATSOs etc..

Still playing with my newly aquired 06 D3. I agree the sat nav is a complex beastie to set up. Plus I still have previous owner visits all over it On a recent run out, up thro the potteries, it also steered me off motorway and back on. most confusing. When back in area I know, it didn`t know of new roads and layouts. Where do I access new info/upgrade? Presume can`t down load from Tinternet! , I`d like to persevere with it but would be happier if it knew more than me.
As a replacement from a P38 RR,I am impressed with a lot, a little worried by it`s electrical shortfalls and Her with the big list [ of jobs, not leaning over] isn`t happy with the "park bench" seat cushioning. Thanks to everyone who kept me entertained/educated me about EGR`s. reverse sensors, height sensors, dry joints etc I still like D3 and will celebrate my new knowledge by buying it some 2 stroke oil in morning.

Satnav is updated via disk usually. Nick ( The Large One on here) is the guy to speak to about buying a genuine one at the best price. Smile I agree, the satnav could be a little more user friendly but ultimately, it does the job 95% of the time for me Smile

On my D3 and D3 (MY10) the sat nav would always try to take me off the M5 - going south from Gloucester to Deven and then back on again. Never trusted it

This new one doesnt seem to do that so I am a lot happier.

Like most have said before, the LR sat nav is best used when you are close to your destination and I find if I plan the route in my head and only allow it to take over from me when in the vacinity all seems OK for both me and the sat nav Thumbs Up

I do like the full post code over the Merc I had which could only cope with 4 or 5 of the letters
 D4 HSE - Aintree Green
D4 Orkney my13 - gone
Stornaway D4. Gone, Didn't like it at all
D3 silver manual. Loved my first LR

I've got a TomTom GO 940 and the LR system is pants in comparison. The unit is simply detachable and the charging wire runs below the steering wheel to bottom right of the windscreen. I plug it into a base attached to the PC at home and plan my journeys with the help of Google maps, viaMichelin etc.
SWMBO uses the nav in the D4 as a passenger just for something to do on long journeys.

Hi Rich

I got my data from scdb and in these dataset, you can select the speed sign icons before downloading if you want.

At least it displays the speed signes on two garmin navs I own. My disco is still waiting for production (april, 10th) but one of the first things I will do, after it is delivered, is to copy the scdb-data in the nav.

Perphaps someone else can verify if the signs out of the scdb-dataset are displayed in the LR nav.

Unless the Swiss D4 is different to the UK spec there is no way to copy POIs to the D4 on-board Sat Nav.

I also use Garmin units and also have the safety camera POIs on them.

Hi Ted

I don't think, the difference is between Swiss- or other country-versions but between MY 2013 (or 2012?) and the earlier versions of the nav.

In the manual of the MY 2013 there is a part explaining the import from POI over USB-storage.

As stated above: perhaps somebody with a '13 nav can try this out.
