Centre Console retrofit
Hi all
First post and all that!
Been to my local robbers today and wanted to check out the back of the Disco centre console as I've been checking out a few things on this site and it seems I've been shortchanged!
The back of the console on display 08 Commercial version) had the AUX point and a 12v socket but unfortunately my '05 comm doesn't. I did ask if this panel could be retrofitted but after much head scratching and humming and hawing it was decided that they weren't sure.......
So before I let them at it, does anyone know of anyone who has had this done and is it a big job?
cheers

Yup, as Ken says, one for site member Christyler. He's your man for that sort of thing. Drop him a pm I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I can understand a 12v outlet but being a commercial why not get the aux put up front if you are to go ahead.

Firstly pull out that little cubby hole you have shown in your picture ..
Look and see if you have this green ( on left) connector .
If you have you can get the replacement front to go in place of the cubby hole ..

Following on from Wiggs' post, you need to order:
XVO500020 Power Point Plate (Rear of centre console)
YXW500070PVJ 12V Power Socket for above
Assuming you have the plug shown in the photo, then just pull out the old bit and then connect the new plate....it'll also come with an auxilliary audio socket that you can wire up too if you can be bothered
I hope that this helps...simply get in touch with Nick from Yeovil if your local dealer is being a bit dumb. 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE AutoBuckingham Blue 2007 Golf GT DSG

Yeah Catweasel
I was thinking of that before, maybe just get the ipod fixture but I was quote €650 (parts and Lab.) for the pleasure so maybe this might be a better way of going about it.
always open to suggestions tho so thanks anyway.

yep spot on. I fairness tho, I only purchased last year so anything I have had done was under warranty but I just get this feeling that when I start paying....I'll start paying!!!!
Anyway, I looked at the panel and I just can't remove it....fear i'm going to bust it altogether...any tips for a smooth removal????

Kind of put your hands inside the cubby hole and pull it out. It clips out.
Then I believe the replacement panel clips into the same place, after you've connected the cables, which ARE in there.
They are in there in mine and Christyler's, as we discovered when we took our consoles to bits when we first got the cars!
Its a bit harder to get to everything with that awful commercial-conversion box; I took mine out and lowered it, and put in a hinged lid so I can store stuff in it.
I'm in Waterford too, we can meet up and you can have a look at mine if you like.

Managed to get it off Andy thanks. quiet easy in the end....was just hoping not to bust it earlier.
The green and orange pins are there so thats good news.
did you fit the panel yourself? Paulp kindly gave me part numbers for the new panel & 12v socket....are they the ones you ordered? Will I stay local or is the large one my best option?
Cheers on the offer for a peak at your conversion. Am interested in checking it out alright. Will give you a PM during the week.
I think TLO is your best bet, the dealer he works for gives users on Disco3 discounts!Ben

Okay, so after ordering the parts, receiving them and not being able to fit the green plug and socket.....no matter how hard I pushed!...........it seems that my model Disco doesn't have the Aux green plug fitted just two green plugs for heated seats!!!!
The Large One hadn't come across this one before and now in the space of a week he's had two people with this issue...............my mother always said I was special but this is taking the p s.............
Well atleast I now have a 12v socket in the rear of the console and perhaps one day I will sort my aux problem in some way.
And always remember 6 holes are better than 10 .........green plugwise !
