Centre Console Cubby Lid Catch

The little gremlins have broken the catch on the centre cubby box lid today Big Cry

I've stripped the unit down, is it possible to buy just the catch or the lid with the catch. Looking at the lid internal part I'm seeing a part number FJB500052

Can anybody help, alternatively does anybody have a lid with working catch to sell me.

Thanks

Mark

Hiya Mark,

Mine broke and I had a mess and found a solution on the forum I think. With mine, it was a bit of plastic that had snapped which from memory, the end of the metal spring effectively went into... Is this what's gone on yours??

I kinda cobbled a new 'tube' for the end of the spring to go into using the normally crimped part of a spade connector. Then was a case of fixing it into place. Ended up using a hot glue gun.

Doing the job so far and far cheaper then a replacement lid! Thumbs Up

Not sure if that's but thought I would chip in Very Happy

Chris.

Hi Chris,

Thanks for your reply Very Happy

After 1.5 hours of hunting on the floor Evil or Very Mad i've managed to find the bit/s that came off when it broke. Theres a thin metal bar that goes through the handle and in sliding the bar back in with the broken piece it seems to have done the trick (for now), its not a perfect fix but will do until I can get a new handle catch assembly, lid with catch or second hand cubby box.

Suggestions for the new parts or used bits please, preferbaly just the lid with catch, i'm looking for cream colour if possible but black will do as i can swap the trim over. (see below).

... yeah same bit that broke on mine.

I seem to recall when I did look that I couldnt find a replacement and where I did, it was silly money! I would still say try the fixing it route and save yourself a few quid... functionaility is the same after... but may be worht dropping TLO a message to see if he can get his hands on one and give you a price Thumbs Up

I have a black lid. Small indentation in the black foam but I am assuming that you you will simply place your alpaca cover onto the full lid.

I even do pictures! Will be up in a mo!

I am afraid to say though, that as I will be without a spare for if mine breaks that the price would need to be £30 including posting. It's a harsh world but if you do not pay attention to the surface piece you are replacing the rest of the lid is little used and mint Thumbs Up

Let me know what you think Mark

EDIT: my word those pictures are rubbish!
