Central reversing camera
I originally fitted a reversing camera into the offside number plate light, but got fed up with the offset position. Got the drill out and 'butchered' the top of the upper tailgate and fitted a camera in the centre just below the high brake light. Actually three holes.
Hopefully, despite the shadows, you can see the end result and also the tow hitch in a central position with a good rearward view. It's the wrong way round as it's a photo of the satnav screen.
The tailgate is double skinned and I had to cut the cable, feed it through and then rejoin the five feeds with soldered joints. But it works!!!
So much easier to hitch up to my trailers. 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE

According to the spec sheet it's both.
It's connected via a GVIF unit and comes on when reverse is selected. 2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE

So do you hitch up first and then remove the electrics cover?
Have to say, that's a very neat installation.2007 Disco3 2.7 tdv6 SE

What camera did you fit geoffsnook?
Is that a ring of led's for night time? What activates them, or do they come on every time?

I put my hitch camera here .The camera is adjustable and the image is in the centre of the screen .I can switch between the two cameras via the gvif selector switch ,makes hitching the tintent easier

It's a £9 eBay camera that is clear as day yes the outer rings are for night vision and they come on every time I select reverse I have. 2 reversing cameras one in the rear number plate light and one as you see and I do find the lower one easier to hitch up the van but can use the both as I managed to get a switch off harp which works well Discovery 3 se gone
