Central locking range

My central locking did not work with the fob at all, I have done the splice in the loom and now it operates fine, however I have to be about 2 metres from the car to operate it. Both keys are operating but with the same short distance.

How can I get this to work correctly?

Locking distance is often a fob battery issue.

Did they both start doing this at the same time?

Is it possible that you are close to a source of radio interference? You could try moving the vehicle to different location to see if that makes a difference.

The car is new to me so i do not know. I have a brand new key from my old disco that caught fire, i can not recode it but i could possibly change the batteries over

The key battery charges while in the ignition, or if you have a electric toothbrush, place the key on the charger base for a few hours.
