CB fitment?

I have an old CB. Midland I think. Found it last week in a tin in the garage. Occurred to me I could fit it in my D3. I don’t use it. Just thought it would be a good thing to have in the car when I’m in Somerset.
Don’t need an antenna to communicate with Jupiter.
Any pictures of where/ how others have mounted one in their D3 please? Discreet being the aim.

Although you say you don't want a really long antenna (I think that's what you meant) remember that CB radio is essentially HF (or shortwave in more common terms). The optimal antenna length for the band is about 8ft or so. A little diddy antenna won't do much for CB.

To be fair, if you've got a few spare hours, get your foundation Amateur Radio licence (super easy) and you can talk to a lot more people, talk via repeaters all over the country whilst mobile, have lots more options on bands, and much shorter antennae for VHF or UHF Thumbs Up

Here's what I did for my cb and amateur radios, the box just hooks on the front and a plate slides into the gap in the dash at the back.

As long as it is tuned to the frequency it should be ok. You may only want to communicate with a car less than half a mile away and not interested in continental United States.

My suggestion is to hook it up with crocodile clips and a magnetic mount antenna to find out if you are happy with the content of transmissions you recieve in your area.

I presume that system is a precursor of the tin cans and string utilised during the Boer War . . ?

Presume you mean me!

Let me have your address and I'll post you the bracket.

I'll be the proud owner of a D4 in the next few weeks and it won't fit.
