Wet water spaniels and smelly cockers ruined the carpet on the tailgate of my D3 as they jumped in and out of the vehicle.
I want to stop the same thing happening to my pristine D4.
Has anyone come up with a practical, easy solution to protecting the carpet?

Machine mart sell long strips of rubber matting (way more than you need). Just get a bit of this, cut to the shape of your boot so that it unrolls and flaps over the tailgate. Voila. 2020 SDV6 D5 HSE, Carpathian Grey +

Somewhere on here was a Group buy of complete boot lining Kits (seat back, sides, floor and tailgate)
Mainly held in by Velcro.
Works well. VERY tough. Black
There is apparently a version which allows split seat folding but the group buy version would not.

Just noticed your signature, John... Just bought an LED Lenser P14 - astonishing performer! 2006 D3 finally swapped for a 2016 D4 Graphite in Graphite grey. No mods

Can't recommend them enough. Have a look at Hatchbag bootliners:

I have the £16.50 Rear Door Cover from Hatchbag. Essential bit of kit imo.

I had a peice of pondliner left over from a project at work and it works perfectly once it's gaffa taped to the plastic edges of the tailgate(it leaves a mess on the carpet when you take it off)not even my bassetts will remove it
