Be careful if you have black wheelstuds- don't damage one!

I have an early D3 TDV6S. It has black wheelstuds. One locking wheelnut got damaged by a clumsy git in a workshop.

Local LR dealer replaced the locking nut only to find that LR have discontinued the black ones "because the paint flakes off". All new locknuts and wheelstuds are now silver. LR dealer then had to replace all 16 black wheelstuds with silver ones. Luckily LR agreed to cover the £100 costs (after a bit of pursuasion by Stratstone, Nottingham), though I'm not sure how far they will extend this for other customers.

Just thought it was worth pointing out potential costs of one damaged locking stud= £30 for 4 new locking studs + £70-£100 labour to get old one off + £100 for new set of 16 silver studs. Total = £200-ish for one poxy locknut! Moral of the story - be take care of your nuts and they'll take care of you. Or something.
Ho hum.

£100!! my disco is just over 12 months old, it has the silver wheel nuts and much to my annoyance the shiny finish has started to come off. Obviously our climate is too harsh for the finish on these nuts. My dealer says that they will take this up with LR (breath held). I pointed out D2's on their forecourt that were much older but still had immaculate nuts, I guess corners have been cut on the finish.

Oh great! LR manufacture flaky black nuts, only to replace them with flaky silver ones! I look forward to peeling buts in the near future.
