Thanks for the replies - all very helpful.
I was still finding it diffilcult to search for the tyres on-line as more of the tyre websites require that you enter the 185 - xx - R14 load / speed rating where xx is the depth / width ration - without this, computer says no.
Doing a more general google search for 185 CARAVAN tyres took the search straight back to general tyres websites.
Using '80' as the ratio however on Camskill gives a couple of contenders with the correct '104' load rating......... Blackcircles gives no matches.
However, we have arranged for a 'specialist ' caravan tyre fitter to supply and fit on the drive.......I'll be checking the load rating very keenly!2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor (2004-2007)

I put in my details which are 185/65 R14 with a load rating of 93 and got loads of results. 104 wasn't even an option as a load rating so I see your problem.D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

so tyres fitted by the guy on the driveway and, as expected, didn't supply a "104" but instead a "102/100"
However, upon examination, the tyres that came off the caravan were a 102/100 also........but then had additional marking as "104 load rating" as well.
If I was confused before, I am even more so now!!!!
So the tyres supplied by the original Bailey dealer when new were 102/100!!!!!2000 D2 TD5 - big red tractor (2004-2007)

I was talking to a chemist who worked for Avon Rubber who explained to me that the rubber in tyres also needs to flex regularly to keep the rubber flexible and standing stationary for half the year does it no good at all and it will start cracking. I believe all the additives added to improve wet grip etc , has a negative effect on tyre life.
Chemist: "Do you want them to stick to the road? Or last a long time"
Customer: "Both"
Chemist: " right " I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Just replaced my caravan tyres, because they were 10 years old. The old tyres were 104/102 load rating the tyres supplied by my local caravan dealer are 102/100. Not ideal, but there doesn’t seem to be much choice out there.
The old tyres had split though, something I didn’t see until the wheels were off the caravan.

102 load index translates to 850kg per tyre, or 1700kg per axle.
So even allowing for an advised 10% safety margin these tyres are fine for upto 1530kg caravan. And don't forget that caravans normally don't run as fast as the tyre speed rating, so another safety factor.MY12 D4 HSE Ipanema Sand
