Caravan safes

I'm looking for some means of keeping our passports and cash safe whilst touring the continent this year. I don't need loads of space as it really is just two passports and some cash but wanted a bit more than the drawer type fittings that are available on the bay of e.
Any suggestions?

Think you are better hiding it in s few different places within the van, that way if you have any issues you only loose a small amount and not all of it

SWMBO won't be happy with that unfortunately. I've found a couple of places previously but having something bolted through the floor has to be more substantial than something hidden. Having said that, the safe would be inside the bottom of a cupboard which has a false floor concealing it. It would be hidden away and difficult to remove with coach bolts through the floor of the caravan. I k now if they want it they'll have it, I just wanted to make it a PITA for them.

Hide it in various places in the Disco, lots of hidey holes, security in the Disco is stronger that the van.

From seeing a couple of people in France that have been robbed, they were robbed while in the van, one had all money taken as it was all in one place. The other had it split up so only handed over one small amount an stated that was all they had

I was just thinking of the Disco myself. If I could convince the Mrs it could work ok. As for being robbed, I don't have a clue how I'd react. I've never been a very good victim so small amounts with a concealed sawn off may be the way. Then again, maybe not. Rolling Eyes

That's the one I'd sort of decided on before asking here. The split of small hidden quantities may be favourite at present.
Cheers. Wink

A safe just shows the robbers that you have something to steal and exactly where it is. They are not bothered about using a crowbar on your cupboard or safe (or YOU for that matter). So a multitude of wee hidey-holes in Discovery AND van (either could be stolen completely). You could fit a "safe" to keep partner happy and still hide stuff elsewhere without telling even her.

I bought one from Machine Mart about 5 years ago, don't know if they still stock them, it's about 6" cube very very strong with a double 5 lever key, you would need an aceteline torch to get into it, bolts through the floor.
Otherwise try Screwfix.

I fitted one for same reasons.
I think it was from argos or b&q and has a pin pad on the door with key override
I bolted it through the floor with dome headed coach bolts from the outside and a steel plate.
Accessed easily from the inside but behind a cupboard Thumbs Up

We fitted an Alko safe in ours to the floor.

It's securely bolted with steel plate and dome bolts. Just a key to open it.
