Car Washes

Anyone know if the D3 will fit through the average drive through auto car wash? I know the end result will not be as good as a DIY job but if you are short of time, maybe its better than nothing. Any thoughts good or bad?

Mine fits through the local one where the car moves along a conveyor thingy-majig. Local polish chap does the front and back, cleans the wheels etc before the automated bit.

Only use it when I'm in a rush and have to g osee the sales guys - setting an example and all that !

it will more than likely go through but you will have to fold the mirrors in.

Yes does go through, but I find that most car washes don't clean the back adequately, they leave a dirty line down the middle Crying or Very sad
Thought this was just because its a big car, but the same happened on the Smart Roadster Evil or Very Mad

The autocar wash in Sainsbury's Wantage takes the d3, dont know if they use the same model everywhere so be careful. With the wing mirrors out there is about inch of clearance but you have to be dead centre in the guide rails. I keep my hand on the power fold button just in case I didnt get it right. Does not do a bad job but it doesn't get the rear corners as well as I would like. If you keep you engine running dont forget to turn off the auto wipers if you have them. I would not try this with roof bars or a rack on as I am pretty sure that it would be too tall and there would not be clearance and I always drop to access height just to be safe.

Spending 30-40k on a car & you use a scratchy car wash........
That's what k'archers and a decent (clean!) sponge are for.... Smile (and gets me out of the house for a couple of hours Smile )

That's the good thing about silver it don't show the scratches. I stopped being precious about paintwork long ago. Could be the company car driver coming out in me of course, I don't have to worry about residuals.
Life is too short to hand wash the beast, there is just too much of it and I rather be driving it than washing it. Auto car wash or pressure washed the previous LR for 4 years and even the dark blue wasnt that bad when it went.
People get very het up about auto washers but if they were that bad then the companies operating and producing them would soon go under in damage claims by user's.
