car wash anyone ?
Now I am the type of guy that washes my car when the doors are getting too heavy (or when I drive my mum anywhere) so I prefer to use a carwash when I get the urge (or let the kids do it).
The last forum that I frequented (of the BMW variety) had a detailing sub forum - full of guys discussing how they polish their cars with virgin Leprechaun milk or some such nonsense.
I doubt that type of thing is discussed here too often So I am going to ask a basic question hopefully without some dumb- telling me that i should use pixie dust and that car-washes were sponsered by the Scratch-X.
So - will the D3 go through a normal carwash without any bother ?

Mine goes through fine. Although I was turned away from one who said they had a Disco in the day before and the car wash had torn the birds nest thingy off the roof. Global Warming.... I'm luvvin it

Took mine to the car wash at Morrisons in Leyland last weekend. Very awkward entry angle and I didn't get it in quite straight.
The wash stopped half way through and I had to send Mrs B ouit to get someone to rescue us! I'll be more careful next time!2013 D4 HSE Luxe in Indus Silver

I was turned away from our local superdooperwash middle of last year as they had lost the fins on two d3s in access height.
Go on, Treat yourself to a £50 jetwash from halfords.
ps..... I use the pixie dust and lambswool approach myself I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I've got a power wash - just too busy (lazy?) to use it, especially as Mrs B aways insists I do hers at the same time, then daughter 1 or 2 appears with theirs!2013 D4 HSE Luxe in Indus Silver

Don't you guys have Polish imigrants round your way??
£12 for full wash and shine. Inside vacuum. Windows inside and out. Black shine on plastic bits inside and out. Wheels absoooolutely spotless, even in the tricky bits.
What if the "Hokey Cokey" really is what it's all about?

Use a chap who didn't flee the country in the underground garage at the office! He charges about the same and parks it back in my parking place when he has finished. Used to be cheaper than GBP 12 but the PLN has appreciated against the GBP over the last few months.

Good point.
Yup there is always saisburys car-park. Although they use very dirty water and that does scratch your car.
I 've had an even better idea, the pub local to my office has a garage forecort hand-wash going on just across the road. I get to drink beer while someone else washes my car. Priceless
I used to run an up-and-over car wash when I had a petrol station. All I would suggest in respect of the D3 is that there is no reason that it shouldn't go through a modern wash providing it is carefully lined up and totally central in the wash bay.
The single biggest problem encountered in these types of car-washes is the potential for remnants of other peoples vehicles (wipers / antennae etc.) to be caught up in the brushes from the previous careless washer which then make a good mess of your car as they scour round your paint at a few hundred rpm.
The guys who come to service the wash always put their (sprinter type) vans through as a test and never had an issue. At the end of the day though....... you pays yer money and takes yer chance The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

Thought they got washed at the annual service anyway???
Our local "foreign nationality" hand car wash is only £6 for my D3, wash and dry, even occasionally get a tyre shine thrown in! Cant beat it when i cant be bothered myself! and much better than a car wash! '16 Volvo XC90 R Design Bursting Blue (Vera)

Loads of places round here that do hand jobs ( ) for £6, use good soap and wax too, I'd never take any car through an automated roller wash, they scratch the paint and don't ever clean properly.2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto
