Hi, this has been a persistent but intermittent problem for the last year or so. Driving along and the interior light comes on and the message 'drivers door open' appears in the information panel. If it persists when the car is stopped then it won't allow me to lock the car - bit tricky for an insurance claim I'm sure. Anyone out there had the same issue. Mine has been into the local garage 3 times but they have not found/fixed it yet.

Hi,
I have an identical problem on my 56 plate HSE. It also seems to prevent the auto door lock operating when pulling away. Only solution is to lock the car from the dash with the passenger door open, climb accross, switch off the interior light and close the passenger door. Look a bit of a d**khead doing it though.
My local dealer says that nothing has ever gone wrong with a landrover ever, and I must be imagining it. Although he did offer to replace countless random and very expensive parts on the off chance that it might help.
Does anyone have a good quality copy of the LR Disco 3 workshop manual?
Or know a Land Rover dealer who can walk and chew gum at the same time?

i wonder why didnt u have the lock replaced the sensor is part of it
them locks give a lot of trouble
sometimes its a wiring damage but here unlikely
get the lock changed problem solved i bet

I've working on this one all day.
Initially adjusted the sriker plate, door hinges/ hanging etc. Still intermittent fault.
But now I think I may have a solution to this. Its in two parts:
1. I stripped the door and removed the actuator unit etc. They were slightly damp, probably water ingress from pressure washing. Dried them out with a hairdrier for a few minutes. Dried the rest of the door fittings and refitted them. Not difficult, but takes a while.
2. Using a cylindrical bar (screwdriver maybe) close the latch on the door to simulate closure and see if the message dissappears/interior light extinguishes etc. Mine does now, everytime.
HOWEVER it still didn't do it everytime when I closed the door for real, until I adjusted the striker plate fractionally outwards. Now it seems to be perfect.
Tried it about 100 times with no failures.

Oh yes, I can shed some light on this problem.
07 HSE Drivers door telling me its open when its not, interior light coming on when driving, cant lock it without it beeping at you.
Sent it into dealers last week for a service and mot told them to mend the lock whilst its there.
They kept the car an extra day to fit a new lock.
F  g guess what, you got it, still F d
And the power steering fluid reservoir is still low, so what else didn't they do for £400 + Member of the carrot crank club
Embarrassingly in for the 2nd round, bought another two
D3 Jack Russell carrier
D4 Landmark for towing duties

Thank you all for responding. Amazingly, our local dealer seems to have sorted the problem, but all they are owning up to is replacement of some frayed wiring inside the door frame. Part of this definitely related to the window winder, but there may have been other shorting problems in there that they are not letting on about. They didn't touch the locks, or any other sensors as far as I am aware. If anyone wants me to, I'll phone the service department to see if I can get any sense out of them. Just let me know.

I had similar problems (posted is a thread somewhere else). The stealer took it in and found a short in the door somewhere which so far seems to have cured the problem. Sounds same as the "frayed wiring inside the door frame" thing...

I'm having this issue on a rear door, the actuator is new and has been working ok, car was washed yesterday and then later that night the interior light came on whilst driving, along with rear door open notice on the dash.
I've stripped the door down, and pulled on the door cable, I can hear the microswitch clicking, however the cable stroke required seems longer than I would expect. Once pulled the door is fine for several open / close actions.
Is it the microswitch not being activated and that's what is causing it to think the door is open.
If so can I alter this? Or do I need to send the actuator back?
